Office Policy...

Welcome to my psychotherapy practice. The following information is provided to acquaint you with the way I work. Please read this document carefully. I will be happy to discuss any questions you may have. When you sign this document it will represent an agreement between us.

  • As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide counseling and psychotherapy services to children, adolescents & adults. My commitment is to assist my clients with their identified mental health needs.

  • Effective psychotherapy requires a good match between client and therapist. During our first session or two we will determine if I'm a good choice of therapist for you. If we decide this is not the case, I will refer you to a therapist I believe can meet your needs better than I.

  • I assume you wish to begin therapy because you desire certain changes in your life.
I will do my best to help you achieve your goals, but I cannot guarantee any particular result. You are most likely to benefit from counseling if you are committed to the process and attend regularly.

  • New Jersey Law and professional ethics mandate that all communication between the client and therapist remain confidential. However, the law requires disclosure in the following cases:

    a) If you are in danger of hurting yourself or someone else

    b) If there is evidence of child or elder abuse—past or present

    c) Per court order

Additionally, it is sometimes necessary to share certain information with the client's insurance company regarding treatment authorization.

  • Therapy sessions are made by appointment and are generally 50 minutes in length. I require notification 24 hours in advance of canceling a session, except in the event of an emergency, which will be evaluated case by case. Please understand that you will be billed for the session if a less than 24 hour notice is given when canceling or if there is a no show. This charge may be waived if we can move your appointment to another time the same week. Keep in mind that insurance companies do not reimburse for missed appointments so this will be the client's responsibility. If at any time during treatment you change insurance carriers, please inform me as soon as possible.

  • In order to honor the therapeutic relationship, I do not connect with clients on Facebook, Linkedin, or any other social media.

  • I return most calls the same day if you leave a message before 7:00 pm. On rare occasions, my call answering may fail to record messages, or I may have difficulty retrieving them, so if I have not returned your call within 24 hours, please call again. Messages left over the weekend will be returned on Monday.

  • I am available in between scheduled sessions for brief consultations, however, please keep in mind that I do not provide crisis services. If you are in need of immediate assistance, or have a clinical emergency, please call the MMH crisis line at 973-540-0010, or consult with your nearest hospital.

  • Phone consultations lasting more than 15 minutes will be charged the hourly rate as well as any additional work (phone calls, letter writing, etc.) performed on behalf of the client.

  • If a check of yours is returned by the bank for insufficient funds, you will be responsible for reimbursing any bank fees charged to my account for your returned check.

  • Please discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding these policies, or any aspects of our working relationship.
