EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a well researched treatment for trauma developed by Frances Shapiro, PhD. This gentle, non invasive method uses bilateral stimulation (through eye movement, tapping, sensors or sound) to help desensitize disturbing memories and reprocess the belief system that has been built around the traumatic event. This clears the way for more positive insights, emotions, thoughts and beliefs.
Research shows that EMDR is safe, rapid and effective.

Joanna uses EMDR incollaboration with her clients to accelerate the healing process. She has found it to be effective with a wide range of issues including:
Traumatic incidents
Performance Anxiety
Self Esteem Issues
Marital betrayal
Chronic pain

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT is a revolutionary treatment method that offers healing from physical and emotional pain and disease. Without the use of needles, this form of acupuncture uses gentle tapping with the fingertips to stimulate energy points on the body. Developed by Gary Craig, this is an easily mastered technique that can be performed virtually anywhere. This treatment sprang from the idea that, "The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

Joanna use this technique to help clients identify distressing thoughts and beliefs that are causing blockages. Then
she guides clients to gently tap on a series of pressure points. The process is repeated as different aspects of the distressing issue come to the surface. In addition, Joanna finds this to be an empowering tool for clients to use for rapid symptom relief in between therapy sessions.

PIT (Post Induction Therapy)

Post Induction Therapy (PIT) is based on the premise that at the core of adult dysfunctional behaviors is untapped childhood trauma, including abuse/neglect, codependency, and shame as well as other unresolved family of origin issues. This method promotes deep healing and freedom from life long struggles and patterns, allowing you to live with a sense of personal power and self worth. PIT is effective in treating both adults and adolescents and it facilitates a deep healing process for shame and abuse on every level.Being in a healthy relationship with self paves the way for healthy relationships with others.

Trained by the creator of Post Induction Therapy, Pia Mellody, Joanna uses this transformational model in treating clients with issues of childhood trauma and the dysfunction it has caused in their present lives. Joanna has found this model to be a powerful tool for her clients not only in healing from those wounds, but also in offering them the opportunity to deepen their recovery by learning mature coping and relational skills.
